In the 1990s, South Africa began its transition to inclusive democracy under Nelson Mandela's leadership. This marked a significant milestone as all South Africans, regardless of race or class, were finally considered equal before the law. However, the effects of Apartheid, a system of racial segregation, still linger in Cape Town. The city's spatial layout reflects this division, with townships on the outskirts predominantly inhabited by black, coloured, or Indian communities. These areas, characterised by economic hardships and makeshift housing, hold a vibrant culture and entrepreneurial spirit. Our tour starts in Langa, the oldest township, offering a firsthand experience of township life through a guided walk. We will also pass by District Six, once a thriving community forcefully demolished during Apartheid, and then visit the historic Bo-Kaap, known for its Malay Quarter and colourful houses. This immersive experience includes local stories and indulging in delicious snacks.
Hermanus lies along the shores of Walker Bay near the Southernmost tip of Africa. Listen out for the whale crier's horn, sounded upon sightings in the bay.

Every year, flower-gazers marvel at a dramatic botanical phenomenon: a dry, brown, and seemingly barren landscape metamorphoses into a breathtaking floral wonderland. The spring rain creates this magic, which allows dormant seeds to germinate and erupt onto the surface, blossoming in phenomenal brilliance. Yellow, pink, orange and purple carpets of colour spread as far as the eye can see. The flower season is rain-dependent. The spring bloom may occur between August and October, subject to rainfall patterns.
